Something I Want to Stop

Working with unwanted habits and recurring behaviors.

If you keep finding yourself returning to a habit you've decided to leave behind, the work isn't to shame yourself into stopping. It's to understand what the pattern may be doing — and practice a different response.

A Useful Question

What if the pattern you're fighting is trying to accomplish something?

Sometimes a habit developed in a particular context, became associated with something you needed, or once served a useful purpose. The circumstances may change while the learned pattern remains. That doesn't make it permanent — it makes it something you can work with.

What this can include

Unwanted habits, smoking or nicotine habits, procrastination, recurring behavioral patterns, and other responses you keep returning to. These may relate to taking a break, reducing pressure, or avoiding discomfort.

How we approach it

Explore when the pattern appears, what beliefs or associations accompany it, and what you want instead. Edit the interpretations around it, scout alternative responses, and practice the ones that support where you want to go.

No guaranteed outcomes are claimed for any specific habit or condition, including smoking cessation. This is not addiction treatment or medical care.
